Although this goes against my natural inclinations and is a major violation of the Introverts of the World Code of Ethics I am putting some of my thoughts out here in blogland.  I have been reluctant to do so for several reasons:

  1. There are at least 10 billion blogs already which is sort of like everybody is talking and no body’s listening.
  2. I haven’t had the time available to put any meaningful thought into what I might write.  Then I realized if I just cut out one Sudoku game a day I’d have the time.
  3. Blogging is very distantly related to public speaking.  To an introvert, public speaking is like a toxin in the bloodstream.  Though I’m not aware of anyone actually dying due to the effects of public oration, I’m sure there are cases out there.  Why chance it?
  4. I remember the Apollo 11 moon landing, Watergate, disco, The Waltons, Samantha Smith, Jessica McClure, and Gary Hart.  Isn’t there an age limit on blogging, Twittering, Facebooking, MySpacing?  Less than 30?  Less than 20!!?

I have, however, decided to put pen to paper and put some thoughts out here for a couple of reasons:

  1. There is so much misinformation, so many warped viewpoints and harmful ideas being promulgated in cyberspace I thought I’d better do my part to balance things out.
  2. If I write enough content maybe someone, somewhere will find one idea that’s helpful or thought-provoking.  Maybe someone will laugh or cry, feel better or get mad, learn something or remember something.  If this happens, then it will be worth it.

So:  3, 2, 1, Liftoff!
